The idea for the creation of a union that would represent the hellenic literary world came about early on,
but various factors delayed the official materialization of such an establishment.
The time had come in 1934 and so, in the sub-basement of Daedalos Street, (the office that Apostolos
Melahrinos maintained) scholars of the time gathered and founded the "Hellenic Literary Society", which was
then officially recognizes by the Supreme Court of Athens (resolution no. 7338/1934).
Following is a document with various historic moments of the Society which you can download.
